VCEL - Social Networking via Cell Phone
VCELL (aka, Virtual Communication Expression and Lifestyle) has developed a social networking service for your mobile phone. To join, all you need to do is sign up via their website, download a Java application to the phone (20+ phones currently supported), and you're in business. You can exchange messages, pictures, plan activities, and even leave voicemails using a Java applet on the VCELL site.

Interesting... do you use it? What does it do, exactly?

I have not used it yet. Given the age of my phone and extremely small screen size I have not found it to be practical. Functionally, it is a Java application developed for mobile phone-based data sharing. The application itself has to be customized to meet the platform specifications of each phone, hence the current support of only 20 phones. Data is stored within your VCEL online profile which identifies groups you are a member of, your contact data so group messages can be sent, etc... The vcel website has a nice summary of the application's current features at http://www.vcellvibes.com/vcel_faq.php
